Description and Uses:

Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil (Santalum spicatum) is a deeply grounding, richly aromatic oil with a smooth, woody-buttery character. Sandalwood has been used for thousands of years as a perfume, temple incense, and ceremonial fragrance, prized for its ability to promote a sense of calm focus and inner stillness. Traditionally burned as an aid to meditation, it remains one of the most beloved oils for creating a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere.

In aromatherapy, Sandalwood is known for being both uplifting and relaxing, making it an ideal oil for stress support, emotional centering, and evening wind-down routines. It’s also an exceptional addition to skincare and body care blends, traditionally valued for supporting skin that feels soothed, nourished, and balanced. Sandalwood is often used in facial blends, body oils, and natural perfumes—and is especially loved for dry skin, dry or damaged hair, and as a warm, sensual personal fragrance.

Sandalwood also has a long-standing reputation as an aphrodisiac, creating an exotic, intimate atmosphere when diffused or worn as a natural perfume.

Traditional Uses: antiseptic, emollient, soothing agent, astringent, skin conditioner, meditation support, perfumery.

Sandalwood’s Environmental Impact:

Because Indian (Mysore) Sandalwood has become increasingly over-harvested, rare, and expensive due to soaring demand and limited supply, we’ve chosen to carry this Australian Sandalwood as a more environmentally responsible alternative. While it is generally milder and less sweet than Indonesian or Mysore Sandalwood, it still offers a beautiful, deep, exotic aroma and retains the qualities that make Sandalwood such a treasured oil in aromatherapy and perfumery.
