Essential Oils for Concentration and Memory

Lately, we’ve been getting a lot of request for oils and blends that will improve concentration and memory. Maybe you’re in school and trying to learn new material or maybe you’re just overwhelmed with life and can’t remember where you put your car keys.

We’ve put together a list of our top ten “focusing” oils and have included a couple of blends for good measure.  These oils can be diffused, of course, but if you’re on the go, I’d recommend diluting them in lotion or massage oil in a small container and keeping them handy.  In fact, making a 10% solution with your favorite carrier in a roll-on might be just the thing, especially if you’re a student or away from home a lot.

TOP 10 ESSENTIAL OILS:

  • Basil
  • Rosemary
  • White Grapefruit
  • Lemon
  • Peppermint
  • Cypress
  • Sweet Orange
  • Eucalyptus
  • Bay Laurel
  • Bergamot

And here are some blends, incorporating some of the above blends:

3 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
2 drops Lemon Essential Oils
1 drop basil essential oil

OR

2 drops peppermint essential oil
2 drops grapefruit essential oil
2 drops cypress essential oil

OR

1 drop each basil, rosemary and cypress essential oils
2 drops grapefruit essential oil

If studying for an exam, it’s a good idea to diffuse an oil or blend while studying, and then dab a bit of that same oil or blend on your wrist or bring a scented handkerchief with you.  Inhaling the same aroma while taking the test has been said to help with memory recall.   Pick something you wouldn’t normally diffuse to help your brain associate it with the study materials.
