4 Seductive DIY Aromatherapy Valentine’s Day Ideas

heart-with text

Looking for a way to spend Valentine’s Day with your sweetheart that doesn’t involve reservations days in advance, an expensive meal out, or struggling into a slinky dress and heels in the dead of winter? Treat your beloved and yourself to a warm, seductive evening at home with the help of essential oils. Here are four ideas and eight recipes you can make to personalize a romantic evening at home.

1. Love Is in the Air

Sure, soft candlelight and romantic music are important, but you’ll also want to set the mood by arousing this key body part early on: the olfactory lobe of the brain. Scent has a powerful effect on libido, and just a few drops of the right essential oil in a diffuser will do wonders to start setting the stage for a night of romance.

Our Favorite Valentine’s Day Essential Oils

Jasmine. It’s no wonder that emotionally warming, relaxing, and uplifting jasmine essential oil is reputedly an aphrodisiac.

Sandalwood’s warm, resinous, sweet, woody scent creates an exotic, sensual atmosphere.

Ylang Ylang is said to elevate sexual energy and enhance relationships. Petals of this beautiful yellow flower are often strewn across marriage beds in Indonesia. lavender-399273_1920

Lavender. Used for centuries as the “herb of love,” lavender has been shown in scientific studies to be one of the most potent scents to arouse men.

Rose. Renowned for having sensual and aphrodisiac properties, roses and love have been intertwined throughout history.

3. Bath Time valentine

Time for some good, clean fun! Add combinations of the following essential oils to simple homemade bath products, and Cupid will thank you for making his job easy:

Sandalwood, Neroli, Jasmine, Clary Sage, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Rose, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Basil, clove, or Ginger

Bath Milk: For a seductive milk bath that will leave your skin soft and fragrant, add five drops of any three of the essential oils above to a cup of whole milk and pour into the water as the tub is filling.

Bath Salts: If you prefer bath salts, add a total of about 15 drops of the same blend of oils to a cup of sea salt. Stir to mix the oils. (These salts work best if you mix them ahead of time and allow them to sit for a couple of days in a airtight container before using.) Bath Salt & oils with text

4. Sensual Massage

A slow, sensual massage is a wonderful way to relax and connect with your partner. The essential oils in the following recipes have been selected for their reputed aphrodisiacal qualities.

Massage Butter. The warm chocolate aroma of rich cocoa butter mixed with the romantic scent of rose makes the perfect massage butter. All you need is the following:

2 ounces cocoa butter

2 ounces coconut oil

10 drops rose essential oil

Melt the cocoa butter and the coconut oil in the microwave or in the top of a double boiler until the mixture liquefies. Add in the rose essential oil, mix, and then pour into an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator. Warm in your massage butter in you hands before use.

Massage Oil. For an intense, deep massage, use massage oils instead of butter. You can purchase aphrodisiac massage oils here and here.

And remember, it doesn’t have to be Valentine’s Day for you and your beloved to use aromatherapy to have a scentsational night of passion!
