Description and Uses: This tropical tree yields a lovely essential oil. Balsam Peru is used as a fixative and fragrance component in lotions, detergents, soaps, and other body care products. Traditionally, balsam peru has been used for dry and chapped skin, respiratory complaints and for stress. It has an exotic aroma which is anchoring, strengthening and imparts a rich, earthy scent to perfumes.
