Origin: Egypt
Family: Asteraceae

Main Chemical Components: Chamazulene, (produced during steam distillation, not present in the fresh plant), bisabolol oxide, enyndicycloether, farnesene.

Description and Uses: German chamomile essential oil is also known as Blue Chamomile or Chamomile matricaria. The beautiful blue color is from azulene which is formed during the distillation of the oil. The odor is sweet and adds a warm, long-lasting undertone in perfumes. Blue Chamomile oil is an excellent anti-inflammatory, valuable for menstrual problems, skin rashes, acne, eczema, arthritis and muscular aches and pains. Chamomile essential oil is commonly used in massage oils and herbal mixtures and is gentle enough for children. Traditional use: muscle relaxant, soothing agent, skin conditioner.
